Our Favourite Things About Camp

Jasper: my favourite things were the go-carts, hydroslide and the waterslide. The reason I liked the go-carts was because I could drive full speed. I liked the hydroslide because of the corners. I liked the waterslide because I went super fast.

Keegan: my favourite things at camp were the flying fox, kayaking, and the waterslide because I had a go at all of them.

Jay: my favourite thing at camp was the waterslide because when I went down it felt like I was going so fast I would ZOOM past the island and go in the prickly bushes that you go into when you go on the flying fox!

Matthew: my favourite things at camp were the waterslide and the flying fox. The waterslide was first because it went really really fast. When I went down it, Josh saw me and I was like "opp opp opp opp op oppa Gangnam style" and just before the end of the water it goes all wiggly and then SPLASH!

Lee: my favourite thing at camp was going in the kayak because I have never been in one before and was trying to tip everyone over and I fell out.

Liam J: my favourite thing at camp was kayaking because I had never been on a kayak before.

Mady: my favourite thing at camp was the hydroslide because it was so fast and you didn't know when it finished.

Josh: my favourite thing at camp was going on the go-karts because I was allowed to drive the go-kart.

Kynan: my favourite thing at camp was the go-carts because I said "oh my God he is going to flip, oh my God he is going to flip". I also liked the golf because it was tricky.

Levi: my favourite thing at camp was the kayaks because Daniel kept splashing me so I gave him revenge by holding onto the front of his kayak, and he rammed me and Lucas in the kayaks.

Tate: my favourite thing at camp was the go-karts because I am tall enough to drive, plus it is complicated over the rocks and stones.

Luca: my favourite thing at camp was the kayaks because I got to smash into other kayaks and it was hilarious. It was funny when we crashed into someone from Room 8.

Brandon: my favourite thing at camp was having extremely awesome fun. It was fun swimming a lot.

Liam I: my favourite thing at camp was going in the pool because the Year 4's got to get in the pool very early.

Lucas: my favourite thing at camp was kayaking because I fell out of the kayak on shore and got soaked but I still had fun.

Sky: my favourite thing at camp was going down the cool, blue, big exciting waterslide with Siao-Wei because it went really fast and when we went round the corners I thought that I was going to fall off the mat.

Krystal: my favourite thing at camp was kayaking by myself, having tea with you and Sky and having hokey pokey ice cream sandwiches for a special dessert before we left.

Alexis: my favourite thing at camp was doing the fire 'n' damper, canoeing and spending time with teachers and friends.

Shontay: my favourite thing at camp was kayaking because it's fun to meet new people.

Madison: my favourite thing at camp was the waterslide. I liked it because it was funny. Everyone was laughing at me and it was scary when I got to the bumpy bit of the slide.

Nia: my favourite thing at camp was the go-karts because I got to be driven by Ashley in Room 7.

Saphire: my favourite thing at camp was the slippery pole and it was fantastic.

Lucy: my favourite thing at camp was kayaking because I got to learn how to paddle and turn in the kayak. I kept on getting stuck in the grass and I stopped.

Mackenzie: my favourite thing at camp was going on the waterslide because my Dad went down with me.

Carlee: my favourite thing at camp was going on the kayak because it made me go faster.

Anna: my favourite thing at camp was going on the waterslide. It was funny when Mackenzie's Dad did a big splash and got Mackenzie wet.

Jasmin: my favourite thing at camp was canoeing, it was fantastic. When I got to shore my feet got wet as. My other favourite one was the obstacle course because we had to climb over walls and go over and under things.

Siao-Wei: my favourite thing at camp was the big blue waterslide because it was going fast and cool. When I was on the waterslide, I was with Sky. It was exciting and fun! It was so fun!!

My time at camp!

On Monday I had to get ready for our long journey to Bridge Valley Camp and I was in group 2. Our first rotation was slippery pole and it was very tricky to get down Seth. But still I bet him. Then when I versed Kaitlin I was hanging on the bottem of the pole and then I HAD to fall.

The next rotation was the water slide and the pool. I liked the water slide more, because in the pool I got a surprise that it was too deep and within the water slide I did not drown because I had something to support me the one the only, SUPER LIFE JACKET!!!

Then by the time the day flew by the year 3's had gone. Then we had our concert. my favourite act was daniel on the keyboard doing crazy frog because it was interesting how he did it.

Then we got to have a milo and a COOKIE and I liked the chocolate chip cookies, mmmm my favourite!

The Masked Parade

Last Friday night we went to the masked parade and it was fantastic.

We saw lots of fantastic masks and there were lots of people there.

We won the best school out of lots of school and so we got a prize!!!!

When we were walking around town there were lots of people watching us.

Everyone was clapping, laughing and cheering.

We were singing and doing the actions to the song Nga Iwi E and we were walking in a circle.

Everyone looked awesome, fantastic and cool.

Our class and R1 and R16 was the forest and our Maori name was Tane Mahuta.

Making Masks

We made the masks for the masked parade by cutting cereal boxes and painted them. Mr Witty's one looked hilarious on him. His eye holes were to thin for him. Kate's one looked hilarious too. She had the same as the classes but with circles. We were the god of the forest and the Maori name is Tane Mahuta. Room 1's mask was the same god as Room 6's but it had green ferns on the top. Room 6 had flax instead.

Using iPads

USING THE IPADS

On Tuesday we used the black, purple and red IPADS. The download we used was puppet pals. There were tons of characters like zombies, princesses, animals and evil monsters. You can choose lots of different scenes like meadows and scary castles and the white house and dark forests. How you use puppet pals is you make a story with different characters in different scenes. We loved it and some were so funny.

Mondrian Art

Mondrian Art
On Tuesday Mr. Witty taught us Mondrian art. It had all the primary colours like red, yellow And blue. And also black and white. You need a ruler and a piece of paper. We draw squares and rectangles. We will stick on pieces of black paper after the paint dries.

The name of the artist is Piet Mondrian. What I think about Piet's art is he is really creative, because it has all the primary colours.  I also think Piet is clever because instead of painting on papers  he paints houses and  cars. I think its awesome.

Cirque Du Room 6

Two weeks ago we had a circus. It was fun. There were lots of acts. There were clowns, pyramids and jokers.

Before we performed our circus on Friday we spent the week learning about the circus with Kate and Mr. Witty. With Mr. Witty we did skipping, hula hooping, and clowns. With Kate we did juggling and balancing. We watched videos and practised ourselves.

Then on Friday we had costumes and makeup and we all performed in the Room 6 Circus. Look at the photos.

Suter Art Gallery Visit

Wow, what a wonderful day we had at the art gallery on Wednesday! We saw big hairy masks with sharp teeth and flax bags. We also saw a picture of Mima. He was a warrior. We also made masks out  of paper. They were awesome and one of them had a tounge!

The reason we went to the Suter art gallery was to learn all about art from the Torres Strait. The Torres Strait is inbetween Australia and Papua New Guinea.

Have a look at some of our great photos from our trip!

Death-breaking dragon

One time we went to Rhythm Interactive. And there was this guy that didn't talk at all until the end. He was on the stage and played the big big drum, and we had little drums.

The drums sounded like thunder pounding on the roof. Heaps of people were having so much fun. People's hands were getting sore from playing the drums so the guy on the stage showed us a way to make our hands better.

The guy also showed us high and low voices for each group of people.

Room 6 and Room 8 Host Assembly

Last Friday, the middle syndicate hosted the school assembly. Room 6 and Room 8 were in charge, and we ran an arts assembly. That meant people sang songs, played music, and shared their talents! It was a really enjoyable assembly showing all of the skills that children in our school have. Below you can see some photos from the assembly.

In the holidays I went to rainbow ski field. I went on a blue sled that had a steering wheel. The steering part went into a dent and I flew into the sky!! It was a real adventure!

My Weekend

On my weekend my brother Rico got a cool game. In the game I hopped in a car and drove off a waterfall and died. Also, I hopped in a boat and went full speed and kept on crashing into rocks. Then I hopped out of the boat and started to shoot beasts with a machine gun and there was a beast that kept on ramming in to me so I gave it a scar and then I shot it so much it died. I flew a chopper and I kept on crashing into stuff and landed on a landing platform.

My Weekend

On Saturday morning I found a Pukeko on my roof. I thought it was really funny because it was on the roof where my room was. On Sunday my whole family went to Rabbit Island. My family had a hunt and the hunt was to find rabbits. The first person to find a rabbit is the winner. We stayed the whole day there and then we went home. The weekend was really fun.

Yummy Food

This week we are learning to cook. We are making lots of different kinds of food, like fruit kebabs, rice, and soup.
It is going to be yummy. Do you want some too?
We love food, and we have a question about food. How does food get made?
Do you have a recipe for us?

Nayland College Sports

On some Wednesdays, Nayland College comes to our school to teach us all types of sport. My group has Jayden, Nia, Siao-Wei, Liam J and some more people. We were playing soccer. First we collected our name tags and we played a name game to learn names of people in our group. We kicked the ball to each other and as we did that we said their name. When we finished the game we played seaweed. I won the game. Finally we played a proper game of soccer it was simple. The points were 9/2. We won. Then we went back to class. It was awesome. The End.

Class Trip to Riverside

On Friday we went to Riverside pool. We had an early morning tea and all the parents came then. I was in Jasper's mum's car with Jasper and Josh. When we got to Riverside there was a playground. Lots of people were there and there was a big tire disc which spins arond. Then we grabbed our bags and went inside. On the inside it was pretty. There was a lane pool and 2 small warm pools. In the small pools there were some toys like balls, boards and floaties. I got changed and dived in like a torpedo! On the roof there was a basket ball hoop, and we kept shooting the ball through the hoop. It was a really fun day at Riverside, and we even got to have lunch beside the river when we were finished!!

Rugby Skills with Andrew Goodman

On Friday, Andrew Goodman came to school to teach us some rugby skills. He is a Tasman Mako. He tought us the grubber. The grubber is a little kick across the ground. Jay, Levi, and I got in a big triangle and did some grubbers. Then he tought us a punt. The punt is a huge kick in the air. We got in a big triangle again and did some punts. I kicked to Jay and it got in the soccer goal instead of the tryline. Hahaha. Then we played rippa rugby. I was the team captain for the Highlanders, my favourite team. Levi was the team captain for the Crusaders and Carlee was the team captain for the Chiefs. First, it was the Highlanders vs. the Crusaders. The Crusaders won. So it was the Crusaders vs. the Chiefs. But the Chiefs won. So now it was the Highlanders vs the Chiefs. It was really tough but we won.

Time for the second round. The Crusaders were hard to handle but it paid off because we won again. We were doing well. The Crusaders did well again and they won - the Chiefs took a beating from the Crusaders. But it was a pay back because we smashed the Crusaders. So then it was the FINAL game. Highlanders vs. the Chiefs. It was rough but it was a nice win. Lets look at the score board. The Highlanders came first, the Crusaders came second and the Chiefs came last.

Book Week at Nayland Primary

This week there is a book fair at our school and the topic is on animals. A book fair is when there is a whole lot of books for Mum's and Dad's to look at. Mums and Dad's look at them to buy them for their children. On Friday there is a disco at Broadgreen Hall.We can dress up as our favourite book character like Peter Pan, Old McDonald or Lightning Mcqueen. A disco is when you DANCE awesomely and you get the groove in you. This is a tip: dance awesome. At the disco, we will wear the costume we wear to school on Friday. Also, we have an animal photo competition. You have to take the photo by yourself so if you are in the photo you can not enter it in. That is sad but hopefully lots of people enter some great photos!!!!.

Food Chains

We have been learning a lot about insects. We looked at food chains and learned about how food chains work. Then we played a really fun game for practising food chains. Try it out yourself! The website is below - you can go to this website and then there is a link to the game on the left.

Jorja's Kittens Come to School

This week Jorja's kittens came to school. The kittens were so cute that I couldn't take my eyes off them. They were really really small because they were only new babies. There were 8 kittens and lots of different colour kittens. Some of the colours were ginger, some were dark, and there was one white one. All of the kittens were clawing onto the people that were holding them. All of the people in our class really really liked them because they were tiny, so they all wanted to keep them in the class. But, we couldn't because they were so small and they had to go home to their mum. I felt extremely excited about having kittens at school - I hope we see them again!

Drama at School

Last week we did drama in class. It was fun, we did heaps of activities. We learnt about gesture, voice, movement, and facial expression and space. We praticed them and it was fun. We pretended to be different characters, like docter, nurse, old lady, cowboy and patients. I like drama, it was a really cool time! Have a look at the photos.
